Grand
Havana Rum is still produced today as it was in Havana,
Cuba at the turn of the 19th Century. Not much has changed
since my great grand father Don Tirso Arregui produced
his home-distilled libation. We
do not distill our rum in continuous still distillation
(single distillate) or column distillation. |
Grand
Havana Rum is distilled in Copper Kettle Still. Pot Still
distillation is the traditional method of distillation that
has been handed down since the inception of rum making in
Cuba and the rest of the Caribbean. more

Grand Havana Rum
Reserva Excelencia
Batch No.1106 (Grenada)
40% AbV, $26.00
Importer: Universal Liquor Imports, Miami, FL
Made by the talented distillers at
Westerhall Distillery which produces
one of my favorite rums, Westerhall
Plantation (****); light, pale amber
color, the warm, almost honey tone of
a barrel-fermented chardonnay -ex-
cellent purity; the opening nosing pass
offers stately, classic scents of brown
sugar and molasses -aeration stimu-
lates further fragrances including
honey, light toffee and maple -a well-
integrated bouquet; the palate entry is
deliciously sweet and honey-like but
ligh and agile on the tongue -by the
midpalate point, the taste profile adds
flavors of milk chocolate and caramel;
the aftertaste is very long, medium-
bodied and moderately sweet; the best
feature of this savory rum is the bal-
ance between the nimble sweetness
and the cruiserweight texture.
